Understanding Autism: Beyond the Labels

A webinar for teachers and educators on building respectful partnerships with families and supporting neurodivergent students.

From Sensory Experiences to Emotional Connection

Have you ever stood in your classroom wondering what is truly going on inside the mind of your autistic student? While adapting lessons and routines is essential, supporting someone on the spectrum goes far deeper: How do they feel? What are they experiencing in those overwhelming moments?

The foundation of true inclusion isn't built on rigid routines—it begins with understanding emotions, sensory realities, and unique ways of processing the world. Sometimes, behind a behavior we find challenging, there is an emotion, an anxiety, or a sensory experience we haven’t yet understood. This webinar bridges psychology and neuroscience to provide a clear perspective on how to move past labels and truly connect.

What we will explore?

  • The Emotional & Sensory Reality: Understanding what classroom environments, noise, changes, and anxiety actually feel like to a student on the spectrum.

  • Decoding Challenging Behaviors: How to look beyond surface reactions and uncover the unmet emotional or sensory needs underneath.

  • Neurobiology Simplified: A practical breakdown of how the autistic brain processes communication, connection, and the world around them.

  • Strengths & Empowerment: Concrete ways to build trust, foster genuine connection, and help autistic children and adolescents thrive in your classroom.

  • Professional Growth: Receive a Certificate of Attendance to support your ongoing professional development!
